FAQ's
What location should I choose? What should I wear?
We will discuss all of this and more at your personalized planning session! You'll even leave with a client guide that will walk you through everything, and is filled with lots of tips for having an amazing photoshoot!
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. Once we agree on an appointment time/date, you must pay a deposit of 20% of your total cost to solidify the appointment. The deposit can be done via Cash App, PayPal, Venmo, Square card reader, ApplePay, or through Zelle QuickPay (through your bank app). The deposit is subtracted from your total due amount. The remaining amount must be paid at the completion of the session.
What's the best way to prepare for my image reveal & ordering session?
Be sure to take a look around your home and get an idea of the spaces you'd like to fill with your new photos! You can even take a picture of the walls you have in mind, and we can use our software to show you exactly how the art will look in that space. This will also help us determine the exact size of the wall art you need.
It also helps to bring a list of friends & family that you'd like to gift some prints to! Having all of these things done ahead of time helps your ordering session go smoothly and quickly!
How many images do I get?
You only buy the images you love! Once we narrow down your favorites together, then we will decide just what to do with each of them. Some we will print as gifts, some will become wall art, and some we can display in a beautiful album. In person you'll be able to see, touch, and feel samples of everything so you can make the best decisions for your needs!
As a bonus gift, you will also receive complimentary web-sized digital versions of every photo you purchase!
Who should come to the image reveal & ordering session?
All decision makers should attend, since the order will be placed at this appointment and payment will made at that time.
How long will my image reveal & ordering session be?
Plan for around 1.5 hours for your appointment.
How long will it take for my art to come in?
Approximately 4-6 weeks after your ordering session. Once your art is delivered, we will personally check it all for quality, and then set up a time to hand deliver (and install, if needed), your custom artwork!
Digital files will be fully edited and delivered via online gallery within 15 business days.
Do you offer rush delivery?
If you need your photo gallery delivered faster than our standard time, you can pay an additional fee for a faster turnaround. This fee will be assessed on an individual basis and will be calculated based on the needs of each circumstance. Please note that the fee will be a minimum of $50. Please contact us if you need rush delivery, and we will quote you for the additional fee.
Your Session
Your session STARTS AT YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME. It is best to arrive in your first outfit and be as ready to go as possible. Because there may be appointments following yours it may not be possible to extend your shoot time. If you are more than 15 minutes late you will be charged an additional $10 per 15 minutes. If you are more than 45 minutes late, your session will need to be rescheduled and your deposit will be forfeited.
Cancellations
Deposits are non refundable. Cancellations or reschedules must be done with no less than 24 hours notice. Any appointment cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will forfeit the deposit. When rescheduling another appointment a second deposit will need to be paid.
Turn Around & Delivery
For portrait sessions of 1.5 hours or less, you should expect to receive your final photos in about 15 business days. For portrait sessions of 2 - 3 hours, you should expect to receive your photos in about 4-5 weeks. For Event Photography of 4+ hours, you should expect to receive your photos in 6-8 weeks. Sometimes there are circumstances that cannot be controlled that may cause a delay in the delivery of your photos. If this occurs, please know that every effort is being made to get your photos to you as soon as possible! Your photos are important to us! We will make sure that your photos are beautifully done and meet our strict standards of excellence.
PLEASE NOTE: All turnaround time periods begin when the client chooses their favorites from their proof gallery. Please select your favorites as soon as possible, but no later than 7 days after your proofs have been received. If we receive your selections more than 7 days after your proofs were sent, this will delay the turnaround times listed above.
For all portrait sessions, you will receive an online gallery via email that has all of the best portraits from your session. They will be unedited images and are not to be screenshot or shared. You will then have the opportunity to choose the amount of favorites that are specified in your package for final editing. If you choose additional favorites that you would like edited, you will be invoiced for the additional fee and all of your chosen favorites will be edited and delivered via online gallery.
Your photos are delivered to you in .jpeg form, in a beautiful online photo gallery where you have the option of downloading your photos, or sharing your photos to your social media. We do not offer unedited or RAW images. Your photos will remain online for at least one month, giving you time to download them to a disk, flash drive or home computer. After this time, your gallery will be removed to make room for other clients. Should anything happen to your copy of your photos, Kiki Smith Photography strives to keep an archive of client sessions for a time. If anything happens to your photos, it is possible we will still have a copy of them to provide to you. Please contact us HERE if you need assistance with this.
WEDDING photo turn around is expected at about 8 weeks. You will be provided with the same beautiful online gallery, and if a photo album is being created for you; with creation, design, print and delivery, you should expect your album at around 10-12 weeks post ceremony. The Kiki Smith Photography Team will keep you updated throughout the process and even send you a few sneak peaks to love on while you wait!
Rush Delivery
If you need your photo gallery delivered faster than our standard normal timeframe, you can pay an additional fee for faster turn around. This fee will be assessed on an individual basis, and will be calculated based off of the needs of each circumstance. Please note that the fee will at least be a minimum of $50. Please contact us if you are in need of rush delivery and we will quote you for the additional fee.
Editing
We take pride in delivering beautifully edited images with every session! Our standard editing includes general retouching to enhance lighting, color, removal of light blemishes, fly away hairs, and overall image quality. If you have specific or advanced retouching requests that go beyond our regular editing, please note that these may require additional editing time. In such cases, an extra fee will be applied, and we’ll be happy to discuss the details with you before proceeding.
Group Size
*Please Note: for groups with more than 5 people, an additional $10/person will be charged due to increased workload of photographing large groups. Extra large groups can be discussed in consultation. Some locations may require additional cost due to distance required to travel.
Extended Sessions
Extended sessions are available upon request, and will be quoted based off of the needs of your session. If you have need of an extended session, please contact our team to discuss!
Editing
All delivered images now receive full skin retouching which includes: removal of blemishes, fly away hairs, skin smoothing, under eye lightening & smoothing, double chin adjustments, mild teeth whitening, sharpening, and color correction! We also remove any objects or people in the background that are distracting to the eye! Some extensive editing beyond this may be possible. If you are interested in more extensive edits, please contact our team for a quote.
Small Children
It can be quite the challenge photographing little ones! Some extra care may need to be taken to ensure we can get some great family portraits for you! This may include: a scheduled nap time, snack/treat bribes, favorite toys, or you joining me making silly faces and doing silly dances! Because it can take a significant amount of additional work for multiple small children, we reserve the right to charge an additional $25 fee for multiple small children in a session. This will not be a surprise fee and you will be notified in advance!
